LG’s entry into the clothes dryers market in the $900 price range is pretty impressive. The LG DLE2050W offers a good set of features without getting too showy. Everything on this unit, even the exterior, is a model of understatement and efficiency, taking home our TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award.
These dryers do not include a steam feature that many modern dryers do, but we are not convinced every user would want or need that. These dryers do have the things shoppers should be able to expect in new dryers, including a moisture sensing system. LG’s Sensor Dry feature is designed to measure moisture and adjust the temperature and drying times accordingly.
Shoppers have also come to expect a wrinkle prevention tool in dryers. These LG dryers do not disappoint. The Wrinkle Care Cycle will tumble clothing periodically after an official cycle has ended in case you need a little leeway in your schedule. Not everyone can focus completely on the laundry chore, and with the old dryers, leaving a load to sit after it was finished meant some serious ironing.
LG made an effort to minimize noise coming from these dryers with its LoDecibel Quiet System. Steps to reduce noise include a one-piece cabinet structure so there is less to rattle around as a cycle gets going. We like the manufacturers that thought of making this generation of dryers noticeably different than the last generation. We think noise reduction, when it is done right, will be among the most noticeable upgrades from your old dryer.
One environmentally friendly advance on these dryers is the duct blockage sensing system. This is such a great idea. Most people know to check the lint filter and empty it on a very regular basis, but it is also important to keep any air ducts clear. When they become blocked with lint, your machine will operate less efficiently and potentially lead to service calls as well. An indicator light on the front panel of these LG dryers will alert you to possible blockages.
Helpful design features include a drum light, child lock and LED display. We also appreciate the reversible and wide-opening door. Not everyone is buying a matching set when they shop for dryers. With these dryers you know they can be configured to fit your existing laundry layout so you’re not lifting wet clothing over open doors.
Adding to this unit's flexibility is the pedestal and stacking kit, both sold separately. LG takes the durability question seriously as well. The dryer drum is double-coated, once with metal and once with a polymer in order to extend the life of these clothes dryers.
We love all of the great customer service offered by LG, especially their live chat option. This company makes it very easy to get answers about its products. The website is excellent, and there is a 5-year warranty on the drum and a 3-year warranty for the motor and controller. That is really amazing. That level of confidence in a product is rare.
Between the excellent warranty and stellar set of features, we think these LG DLE2050W dryers will be a great fit for many consumers.
Pros

Cons
The lack of steam cycles may be a drawback for some.
LG’s excellent customer service will make this the right choice for many consumers.
